Let’s face it. Come January, you are going to make those dreaded New Year’s resolutions again – lose weight; get running again; PR at a 5K and then a 10K; just get out and mingle more, etc., etc. etc. WHY WAIT! The HMRRC Winter Series can help and why not make the commitment in DECEMBER, rather than wait until January!
Why run the winter series? First and foremost, it is a supported series of races, providing water stops and refreshments at the end with friends. In addition, there are at least 2 different distances at each event – each building on the race before it so your training is progressive. Anyone interested in getting their running game going can find a distance that matches their level of fitness. Also, the camaraderie of the runners, pre- and post-race, is awesome.
For HMRRC members, the races are free and there is pre-race signup online. Each series has a separate sign-up so you can start with WS #1, see how it goes and then commit to WS 2, and so on. And if you run four winter series and volunteer at the other, you would be eligible for a Winter Series Survivor award. Hopefully there will be a “sneak peek” of what that will be in early January so sign up now, so you don’t miss out.
Winter Series Dates and Distances
#1 Doug Bowden – December 8 - a 3 mile and 15K
#2 Hangover Half – January 1 at NOON – 13.1 miles and 3.5 Mile
#3 – January 12 - 3 mile, 10K and 25K
#4 – January 19 – 3 mile, 15k and 30K
#5 – February 2 – 4.5 mile, 10 mile, and 20 mile and a celebration of the Grand Prix Winners!
If you can't run, why not help by volunteering. Other than enjoying the spirit and energy of the races, your participation can be vital to the success of the races.
