energy gels

I'm not sure if this question should go in Training Ideas, but I don't know where else to put it.  Does anyone know of a local store (Albany area) that sells energy gels?  I'd rather buy them in person rather via Internet, to avoid shipping charges.  It seems most web sites sell them in cases of 12 or 24 of one flavor, and I'd rather pick out a few of several different flavors.  Thanks.

Re: energy gels

Try the Sports Authority behind Target store in Latham off Rte 7 and the Northway. If I can find shoo goo there, they must carry other esoteric items like that.

Re: energy gels

Fleet Feet in Colonie (Wolf Road) has tons of different kinds. So does EMS - there's one in Stuyvesant Plaza (edited to remove unnecessary references to EMS stores outside of Albany).

Re: energy gels

I haven't bought gels in a long time, but a few years back a group of us would buy in bulk on the internet and then divide them up.  That always saved us some money.  I also used to buy Power Bars, etc, from the Paradise Health Food store in Guilderland.  At the time they had the best local price that I could find.  I'm not sure if they are even still in business, so best to give them a call first.

Re: energy gels

Thanks for the advice.  I had two $5  coupons for Fleet Feet and picked up 8 gels yesterday.  They do have a good selection of flavors.  I also noticed Hannaford has them, but only 2 flavors.

Re: energy gels

FYI - at HMRRC races, when the clothing is set up (Delmar Dash on April 1 and Club Night on April 18), they have GU packets for sale.  I don't know exactly what the flavors are but they did have them at the Winter Marathon race.  I am checking with them to be sure they will have some on hand for the Dash.
