Garmin Forerunner 110

I finally took the plunge and bought myself a Garmin Forerunner 110 sports watch.  I've done two runs with it so far--a three miler and a 10-miler.  And I love it!  It does exactly what I want it to do.  With barely any set up, it just WORKS and gives me my pace, distance, and time.

Then as if I didn't already love it enough for those traits alone, there's Garmin Connect, which allows me to upload my run data from my watch, and instantly I get a map showing me my run + all kinds of geeky info on my splits, best times, and so on.  Just to add another layer to my runner's OCD.  smile

Re: Garmin Forerunner 110

Sounds very cool, Myriad.  How does the upload work?  Is it a cable connect or some sort of wireless comm?  I have a Polar heart monitor that uses some weird and unreliable sound communication feature.

Re: Garmin Forerunner 110

Twit, the watch comes with a cable that is used both to charge the watch's battery  and to upload the run data.  It has a clip on one end, with four prongs that attach to the watch.  On the other end it plugs into the computer's USB drive.  There is also an adaptor that it plugs into to allow one to charge the battery using an ordinary wall socket.

For uploading run data, the user creates a free account at the Garmin Connect website.  There is a plug-in you are prompted to download when you first create your account.  While logged in, all you do is attach the watch and cable and click the "upload" button.  (There is also the option of downloading a program to use offline on your computer.)
