It was within .1 miles over 7 miles of the bike path. It can't be as precise as wheel measuring but it's pretty close. If you get 3.15, that's within the margin of error. The Cohoes TT course was a bit short this year because they started directly in front of city hall instead of a block back. The person who designed that course told me so herself. The new course is tougher.  I didn't think that because I didn't know anout the left turn on Rensselaer Street.  The 1 mile marker seemed to be on, but the 2 mile mark was "way off,"  But, in the end, the course was accurate. For the 5k, my splits were 5:54, 6:47, and 5:53 - obviously at least the 2-mile clock was misplaced, but multiple checks with Google Earth also yields a total length of 3.15 miles - about 20 seconds at my pace. With Google Earth as a check there's really no reason for any inaccuracies on a road course. The modern era race started in 64 when I was still in CCHS in Troy. I knew a few guys who did enter that year, Mike Burke, Joe McCoy, Claude Rounds. If I ever saw results from 64 I could probably identify a few more, but I was not among them. After I did start running road races regularly in the 70s I was frequently out of town on T'day so I never began the tradition. Then there were all the years with 4 kids at home that would have made sneaking out that morning to run a race unforgiveable. The family was never enthralled with my running. Only in recent years have I started doing a Turkey Trot, but I chose instead to do Cohoes a much much smaller race but still a long tradition. It's the 45th year for Cohoes. Troy says it's the 61st but with a 28 year break from 1936-63 that's really sort of a bogus claim. They should count from 1964 making this one the 45th as well which would still be impressive but more honest. This year three new changes are taking place at the Trot as part of an ongoing effort to keep pace with the ever-increasing levels of participation. First, all indoor day of race operations will be moved from Troy City Hall to the much larger confines of the Troy Atrium. Secondly, the start and finish lines for all races will be moved from River Street, to Fourth Street and Broadway (start) and on Third Street and Broadway (finish). These new start and finish areas will allow easy accessibility to runners and spectators from inside the atrium. Finally, the 5K route is changing. Due to the ever-increasing popularity of this race(over 3,700 are expected to participate this year)the new route will include portions of Sixth Avenue to more easily accommodate a greater number of participants and better provide for the safety of all runners. The big change is the course.  The start/finish has been moved and the race headquarters moves from City Hall to the Atrium.  Rather than start on River Street, I believe it will begin on 3rd or 4th Street.
